Bandana Sircar
Bandana has been involved in many aspects of education.
She taught Ed. Hons at undergraduate level of Calcutta University, and some BEd classes at post graduate level.
She moved from the extremely privileged to the most deprived when she joined the NGO, Future Hope. These boys were mostly runaways who had lost touch with their families, and not formed ties to any gangs/groups. They were quite isolated. In a residential facility, they were introduced to communal, cooperative living. Also eased into the mainline education stream where possible.
Bandana also spent some years as Vice Principal of a junior school.
She had not thought that moving to Bangalore would mean losing touch with teaching. But there was no space for anyone over 60. I am grateful for the opportunity to renew my ties to my old life.
